Hey, did you know there are approximately 1.27 million football games on this weekend? Maybe I exaggerate, but that’s what it FEELS like, anyways. So if you want to take the kids out for a little fresh air and a break from the TV, check out these fun Santa Clarita events:
Here are my top 5 picks for family fun in Santa Clarita this weekend:
Ice Station Valencia Family Snow Days
Do you love the idea of finding your inner Peggy Fleming, but are afraid of the actual “skating” part? Well now you can take the family to a great event made for even the most fearful skaters.
Family Snow Day is taking place on Saturday, December 13th from 1-4:15 at the Ice Station Valencia and your family can drink hot cocoa, meet Frosty the Snowman, and skate, skate, SKATE! There is also a snow play area available from 2-4 and they are offering FREE beginning ice skating lessons at 2 and 3:15, so there are basically no good reasons not to go.
It’s what “The Fleming” would do.
Rockapella Holiday Show
You put amazing a cappella singers together with amazing rock and roll singers, well, you get Rockapella! This contemporary group is heading to the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center College of the Canyons for a night of holiday favorites with their own special twist.
It’s Saturday, December 13th, at 8pm and you can find details on tickets here. Take the whole family for this fun Santa Clarita event!
On a side note, if you meet them in person after, don’t just start singing in their faces as an “audition”. They don’t like that.
Not that I know from personal experience…
Breakfast with Santa
Santa is always receptive to your Christmas list, right? But wouldn’t he be even more open to your wish list over a nice breakfast and a latte?
Make breakfast special by registering for Breakfast with Santa at the Santa Clarita Activities Center. It’s Saturday and Sunday, December 13th and 14th, from 8:30-10:45. Tickets are $20 pp and you need to pre-register. There will be a full breakfast, crafts, photo opps, and the “Turbo Sleigh.” Plus You-Know-Who will be there, and Mrs. You-Know-Who.
No, not Kimyae! The CLAUSES! Way, WAY more interesting.
A Vintage Christmas in Old Town Newhall
Having a new, shiny Christmas is great and all, but a Vintage Christmas is EVEN BETTER!
This Saturday, December 13th, from 10-2 at Lyons and Main Street you can take a blast to the past at this free event in Old Town Newhall with Santa, Fun, and the Elf on the Shelf. Bring your Non-Perishable Food Items or Unwrapped New Toy for an extra dose of holiday warm fuzzies.
You can bring your smartphone for picture taking, that’s one kind of shiny newness that is totally acceptable.
“Let Earth Receive Her King” Christmas Concert
If you love hearing a full orchestra and choir perform live then you are going to want to check out the Valencia Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Community Christmas Concert, “Let Earth Receive Her King”. This free concert takes place Saturday, December 13th at 7 pm and Sunday December 14th at 5 and 7:30 pm at the Valencia Stake Center.
This is a breathtaking and reverent concert guaranteed to please. So take the kids, have them put on their “listening ears”, and go!
