The 4th of July celebrations may be over, but don’t despair. There are a ton of family fun activities right here in Santa Clarita to keep you in the festive spirit.
Here are my top 5 picks for family fun in Santa Clarita this weekend:
Latin Music and Cultural Festival
This first event of the festival takes place on Saturday, July 11th from 3 to 9:30 pm at Rivendale Park in Towsley Canyon. The free fun involves arts and crafts, food trucks, family fun, and AMAZING MUSIC AND PERFORMANCES. You can get details on their website.
The incredible Latin inspired music will not only get you on your feet, it may even cause you to dance around a bit too!
Dine in Movie Night at the Aquatic Center
Is everything AWESOME? Are you sure? If not, get a heavy dose of awesome fun with the Dive in Movie at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center.
If you haven’t guessed, the dive in movie is The Lego Movie, starting at 7pm on Saturday, July 11th and the cost is $10 pp. Pre-registration is suggested so check out their website.
You can float in the pool or stay dry on the deck while enjoying a fun family movie with your kids. If that isn’t “awesome”, I don’t know what is.
Concerts in the Park – “Joel” – Bill Joel Cover Band
Summer Concerts in the Park are back in action starting this weekend, and the first offering of the series is going to inspire the Piano Man in all of us with the premier Billy Joel cover band, “Joel.”
The free event starts at 7pm on Saturday, July 11th at Central Park. Bring chairs, blankets, and your own food or enjoy the food vendors.
Lead singer Kyle Martin was chosen by Billy Joel personally to play himself in the Broadway Musical “Movin’ Out,” so get ready to rock and roll with the best of the best.
Americana Folk Fest
Are you a fan of Kelly’s Lot, Mike Fleming and all things Folk Music? If so, make sure you swing by the second day of LA SummerFEST for their Americana Folkfest.
It’s Sunday, July 12th from 3-10 pm at Rivendale Park in Towsley Canyon and will be bursting at the seams with music, dancing, food, family fun, and arts and crafts. There is a $10 suggested donation and you can get your info on their website.
There’s even a Quilt Show, and that’s the best kind of show!
Scooter/Tricycle Race and Old Fashioned Family Fun Day
From 10 am-2pm on Saturday, July 11th, you can bring your best scooter or tricycle for a fun race, have the kids learn about science, and play all sorts of family games. It’s free and open to all. Call 775-0823 for details.
Oh but parents, don’t be disappointed. The races are just for kids.
