May is in full bloom and filled with fun opportunities for you and your kids to hang out at places that don’t cost too much, and don’t make you take your shoes off to enter (indoor playgrounds, I’m talking to you.)
Here are my top 5 family fun activities in Santa Clarita this weekend:
Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th from 10:00am to 6:30pm take the trip to the Strawberry Meadows at College Park in Oxnard for amazing rides and games, plus the best part…strawberry flavored EVERYTHING! KHTS is selling half-price tickets for only $6, so come on by the station or shop online at shopKHTS.com.
What kind of foods you ask? Strawberry pizza, nachos, popcorn, margaritas, beer, and even deep-fried strawberries. Make sure to bring your strawberry flavored Tums, too…
Fairy Shelter Breakfast & Auction
Saturday, May 16th from 9:00am to 12 noon check out this fundraiser held by the Domestic Violence Center at Hart Park in the Enchanted Fairy Garden
Tickets to attend the breakfast are $25, and include breakfast and a raffle. The cost to enter a house in the auction and contest is $10. See the website details and tickets.
Go get magical! Just don’t forget to BYOFD (Bring Your Own Fairy Dust)!
Armed Forces Appreciation Day
Military families can visit the Help the Children SCV & Antelope Valley event “The Framing Hope Veteran Appreciation Day” between 8:30am and 12 pm and get free home improvement supplies and enjoy a party just for them. Visit their website for details.
You can also take the family pets over to Pavillion 1 the West Creek Park at 10:30 am for a Pet Parade in honor of our armed forces. The Park is at 24247 Village Circle in West Saugus and you can call 775-0823 for details.
Two great ways to support and celebrate our military!
Relay for Life of Santa Clarita Valley
The 24 hour event begins Saturday, May 16th a 9:00am and ends at 9:00am Sunday, May 17th at Central Park, and you can participate or just go visit and support the walkers. There will also be vendors and fun out there for all to enjoy. Visit their website for details.
Walking to have fun AND raise money to help fight cancer? Way better than walking just because you have make your Apple Watch happy, right?
Happenins at Hart: Animal Prints
Take the kids on Friday, May 15th from 3:30pm to 4:30pm to the Hart Park Picnic Area for this free project. Your K-5th graders can make their own Paw Prints, then use them to make tracks for scientists to follow. It’s all free and supplies are provided, all you need to do is bring your little animals to join in the fun.
And if you come wearing a leopard print blouse? All the better!
