Some weekends are filled to the brim with things like soccer, swimming, and the traditional “way too long birthday party for your kid’s classmate that you hardly know at which you have to make painful small talk with strangers for what feels like forever” party. But this weekend has too many great local events to pass up!

Check out my top 5 local Santa Clarita family fun activities this weekend:
Hot Rods 4 Heroes Car & Motorcycle Show
For the car and motorcycle types, you are going to want to catch the coolest charity event in town, with categories like Best Paint Job, Best Muscle Car, Best Low Rider, and more. All proceeds from this fun-filled day of music, food, and all things automobile will go to the American Legion and show our respect for our veterans, active military, and military families.
Over 75 vehicles will participate at the event on Sunday, October 12th, at the Old Town Newhall Library. Opening ceremonies are around 9:45 and the event ends at 2, and you can call 259-8507 for info.
The free event may even get your kids more excited about vehicles than watching the movie “Cars” for the 9,000th time!
Granada Hills Street Faire
Once you start spelling your FAIR as FAIRE, great things are bound to happen.
The Granada Hills Street FAIRE is happening this Saturday, October 11th, from 10-5 and all of the fun you could possibly wish for will be provided in the form of Food, Music, Arts & Crafts, Health & Wellness, Pet Adoptions, and kid stuff like Face Painting and Ponies. Click here for details and directions.
And it’s free to pop by! So that’s fair…for a faire.
Child & Family Center’s Kid Expo
If you want to check out an expo made for kids, why not go to the one with that exact description in its title? The Kid Expo is being held this weekend and it has over 120 companies featuring family and kids products and services in Santa Clarita.
But there’s more than just products, there will be dance, karate, and gymnastics exhibitions, cartoon characters, and so much more. Plus proceeds are going to the Child and Family Center giving mental health services to families in our community.
It’s 10/12 from 11-4, $5 for adults, free for kids, perfect for all.
Old Town Newhall Oktoberfest
When I say take your kids to Oktoberfest you probably think I’m nutso. Which is a valid point. However, this weekend’s beer-themed event actually has a lot of fun stuff for families like Chicken Dancing, Costume Contests, and Authentic German Music.
Oh yeah, plus some tasty beer for you (please drink responsibly with your children around, pretty please?). It’s Saturday, October 11th, from 1-5 on Main Street in Old Town Newhall and you can click here for details.
You must be over 21 to purchase a ticket, but minors can be admitted free with a paid parent or guardian as long as they accompany them the entire time. So if you were planning on sending your kids to the beer fest solo, you are out of luck…
Most of us have a dysfunctional relationship with our socks. At best, we disregard them, at worst, curse their existence when they go rogue in our dryer. How about finding the good in socks by donating new pairs to Family Promise SCV to help the homeless?
It is “Socktober”, and that means it’s time to participate in the national sock drive to raise awareness about the homeless and keep their feet warm in the winter. It’s easy, just gather new socks with your friends, family, school, or neighborhood and call 251-2868 for a pickup.
Help our local shelter and community. You and your socks will feel really good about each other.
